Laughing Stock (1991) is the fifth and final studio album by Talk Talk, and the only one released on the jazz-based Verve label. Building on the approach of Spirit of Eden, it was recorded with a large ensemble and improvised instrumentation, drifting far outside conventional rock structures into music both delicate and intense. Largely overlooked on release, it has since grown enormously in stature and influence.
