Stan Getz's 1972 masterpiece Captain Marvel pairs his gorgeous tenor tone with a young, electric band led by Chick Corea, alongside bassist Stanley Clarke, drummer Tony Williams, and percussionist Airto Moreira. Built largely around Corea compositions that would soon feed Return to Forever, the album balances restless fusion energy with Getz's lyrical melodic instincts, from the Latin fire of "La Fiesta" to the tender "Lush Life." One of the finest recordings Getz made in the 1970s.
