Sonny Rollins' 1956 tribute to Charlie Parker, recorded within a year of Bird's passing. Rather than transpose Parker's alto material, Rollins chose standards associated with him, anchored by the inexhaustible 27-minute "Bird Medley" that seamlessly stitches together seven tunes. He's joined by Kenny Dorham, Wade Legge, George Morrow and Max Roach. Mastered from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray.
