Silver Apples' self-titled 1968 debut is a pioneering work of electronic rock, built from Simeon's homemade oscillator synthesizer and Dan Taylor's hypnotic drumming. Formed in 1967 as a psychedelic electronic duo, the New York group laid groundwork for what became krautrock, and their highly influential sound has touched countless bands from Stereolab to the Beastie Boys.
