We Release Jazz's official reissue of Ryo Fukui's Ryo Fukui in New York, sourced from the original masters. Recorded in February 1999 at Avatar Studios and inspired by his idol and mentor Barry Harris, the famed Sapporo pianist is joined by American veterans Lisle Atkinson (bass) and Leroy Williams (drums) for a set of pure bop heaven — poetic takes on Charlie Parker, Gershwin, Ellington, Kern, Porter and Bud Powell, plus a remake of Fukui's own "Mellow Dream."
