Pirates is the second album by Chicago-born singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones, released in July 1981, two years after her acclaimed eponymous debut. Partly an account of her break-up with fellow musician Tom Waits, it was recorded in sessions at Warner Bros. studios in North Hollywood between 1980 and 1981, the period in which Jones also won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The result is one of her most ambitious and beloved records.
