Trombonist Phil Ranelin's first album as a leader is a vanguard jazz statement from Detroit's Tribe collective. Recorded in 1973–74, it fuses avant-garde improvisation, hard bop, and soulful, Latin-tinged melody, with fellow Tribe members Marcus Belgrave and Wendell Harrison among the soloists. A must for adventurous jazz listeners. Reissued on audiophile vinyl by Pure Pleasure.
