Recorded in 1984 and originally released in March 1985, Birdy marks Peter Gabriel's first collaboration with producer Daniel Lanois, who went on to co-produce So and Us. The soundtrack to Alan Parker's film — the tale of a Vietnam vet with Icarus-like ambitions to fly — finds Gabriel working free of commercial pressure, building several tracks from elements of his third and fourth solo albums. Half-speed remastered and cut at 33RPM for maximum dynamic range.
