Light years ahead of its time, Music for Heavenly Bodies is a lush, eerie, atmospheric slice of space-age exotica and a crate-digging classic. Trombonist Paul Tanner — a veteran of the original Glenn Miller Orchestra — co-created the Electro-Theremin, a slide-controlled theremin, and recorded this 1958 space-themed album just two days later. The same instrument would later produce the iconic sound of the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations." Modern Harmonic presents Tanner's Electro-Theremin odyssey on blue vinyl in a gatefold jacket with extensive liner notes.
