Orlando Weeks first came to prominence as frontman of The Maccabees, one of the most influential British bands of recent years, winning Best British Band at the NME Awards and an Ivor Novello for Best Contemporary Song before splitting at the height of their powers. A Quickening is Orlando's debut solo release, a deeply personal record that is lush and full of swelling, emotive flourishes, exploring themes around fatherhood following the recent birth of his first son.
