In August 2007 the original members of Mudcrutch — the Gainesville, Florida band that became the forerunner of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers — reunited and recorded their self-titled debut, released in 2008. Featuring Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, and Benmont Tench alongside founding members Tom Leadon and Randall Marsh, the album captures the loose, rootsy spirit of the band's early-1970s days playing the bars of Gainesville.
