Originally released on Odeon in 1965, O Compositor E O Cantor ("The Composer and the Singer") is among the most important records of the bossa nova era. Co-written largely with his brother Paulo Sérgio Valle and adorned with glorious string arrangements co-arranged by a young Eumir Deodato, it's home to "Samba de Verão" (Summer Samba) — one of the most-covered songs in all of Brazilian music. Gentle, intimate, and quietly revolutionary.
