On Think Of Spring, M. Ward filters the songs and strings of Billie Holiday's landmark Lady In Satin through a single acoustic guitar, using alternate tunings and minimal studio textures — most of it recorded to an analog Tascam four-track. Inspired by Holiday, Ray Ellis, J.J. Johnson, John Fahey and Robert Johnson, it's a hushed, deeply personal reimagining of an album Ward first fell for as a young man.
