The astonishing Judee Sill was the first artist signed to David Geffen's Asylum Records, and Heart Food (1973) was her second and, sadly, final album. Intensely spiritual yet grounded by great songwriting and a pure, powerful voice, her songs impart an incredible intimacy — enhanced rather than diminished by the complex string and orchestral arrangements she wrote and conducted herself. It builds to "The Donor," one of the most ambitious pieces she ever recorded. Intervention's edition is remastered by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI.
