On the cusp of releasing his first-ever solo album, Every Feeling on a Loop, songwriter Josiah Johnson wasn't supposed to be here. Five years after taking a leave of absence from indie-folk band The Head and the Heart to confront his struggles with addiction, Johnson returns with lush musical arrangements and harmonies supporting his baritone croon. At times the songs sound like prayers; at others, his exuberance feels like hard-earned euphoria as he charts his journey out of the dark into the wide awake of the morning.
