Williams' 1975 score for Steven Spielberg's Jaws won the Academy Award, Grammy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA — his first Oscar for his own music — and was ranked the sixth-greatest film score of all time by the AFI. From the primal two-note menace of the main title to its surging orchestral set pieces, it cemented the Spielberg–Williams partnership; as Spielberg put it, the score was "responsible for half the success of that movie."
