Soultrane (1958) captures John Coltrane as a leader for Prestige, backed by the superb rhythm section of Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums. By this point Coltrane was acknowledged alongside Sonny Rollins as one of the two most influential tenor saxophonists in jazz, and the album moves from the driving "Good Bait" to the smoldering ballad "Theme for Ernie" and a high-velocity "Russian Lullaby." This Analogue Productions edition was cut from the analog masters by Kevin Gray and pressed at Quality Record Pressings.
