Igor Stravinsky conducts his own dance cantata Les Noces (The Wedding), a percussive, ritualistic evocation of a Russian peasant wedding scored for four pianos, percussion, voices and chorus — with Samuel Barber, Lukas Foss, Aaron Copland and Roger Sessions at the keyboards. The program is rounded out by the burlesque fable Renard (The Fox) and the spiky Ragtime for Eleven Instruments. Few recordings can claim greater authenticity than this one, led by the composer himself. This Speakers Corner LP was remastered using pure analogue components only.
