To mark the 20th anniversary of his band's landmark second album, Grandaddy's Jason Lytle re-recorded The Sophtware Slump entirely on a wooden piano. Stripped of the original's electronics and fuzz, these spare solo-piano versions push the songs' melodies and lyrics to the front — slower numbers settle in naturally, while once-louder tracks like "The Crystal Lake" and "Chartsengrafs" are wholly transformed, building toward the album's aspirational, sky-aiming finish.
