Prequelle is the fourth studio album from Swedish rock band Ghost, following Meliora and its companion EP Popestar, the latter helping earn the group a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. Themed around the Black Death, the apocalypse, and the dark ages, the album pairs doom-laden atmosphere with soaring, melodic hooks. Ghost remains instantly recognizable for its theatrical, costumed presence led by frontman Papa Emeritus.
