Brain Salad Surgery is the fourth studio album by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, the band's progressive climax and most ambitious record. Blending rock, classical, and cutting-edge electronics, it pairs the hymn "Jerusalem" and Ginastera-derived "Toccata" with the sprawling, multi-part epic "Karn Evil 9." Greg Lake co-wrote the lyrics with former King Crimson bandmate Pete Sinfield.
