Recorded during the same fruitful sessions as its predecessor, Musick To Play In The Dark² finds Coil co-founders John Balance and Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson — aided by multi-instrumentalist Thighpaulsandra — mining the recesses of surrealist "moon music": post-industrial spellcasting at the axis of narcotic and nocturnal energies. Spanning bad-acid sound design, synthesizer voyaging, opiated balladry, and subliminal hymnals, it is alternately ominous, oracular, and absurd, with Scottish gothic icon Rose McDowall guesting on vocals.
