On their self-titled debut, Cigarettes After Sex frontman Greg Gonzalez sets scenes and sustains moods that reel you in deeply, weaving impressionistic snapshots of romance into melodies that haunt like memories of past loves. Chiming guitars and his melting vocals luxuriate across tales of blossoming love and romantic compulsion, from the hushed opener "K." to the retro-romantic swing of closer "Young & Dumb." Inspired by The Cowboy Junkies' single-microphone approach, the band recorded most of the album in just three days at a Bushwick rehearsal space.
