Western Stars is Bruce Springsteen's first new studio album in five years, taking his music to a new place inspired in part by the Southern California pop records of the late '60s and early '70s. Recorded primarily at his New Jersey home studio, its 13 tracks sweep across American themes of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope. Produced by Ron Aniello with Springsteen, the lush arrangements feature strings, horns and pedal steel from more than 20 players, with vocals from Patti Scialfa.
