Belgian jazz great Bobby Jaspar died at just 37, but left a handful of memorable dates as a leader, of which this December 1958 studio session was his last. Here Jaspar sticks exclusively to flute, joined by drummer Kenny Clarke, vibraphonists Sadi Lallemand and Michel Hausser, and bassists Paul Rovere and Jymie Merritt. His soft, appealing arrangements span originals, standards such as 'Lullaby of the Leaves' and 'There Will Never Be Another You,' and classic bop tunes - easily one of Jaspar's finest recordings as a leader.
