Holy Smokes Future Jokes is Blitzen Trapper's 2020 album, a cosmic song cycle in which frontman Eric Earley contemplates death, rebirth, and the spaces in between. Inspired by George Saunders' Lincoln in the Bardo and the Tibetan Book of the Dead, its ten tracks move through dramatic, vividly drawn vignettes set to the band's signature blend of folk, rock, and Americana.
