Organist Roosevelt "Baby Face" Willette cut just two Blue Note albums in 1961, and his debut Face to Face is a tour de force of blues-drenched soul jazz. Backed by guitarist Grant Green, tenor saxophonist Fred Jackson, and drummer Ben Dixon, Willette plays the Hammond B-3 with sanctified, gospel-rooted fervor. Produced by Joe Harley for the Tone Poet series with an iconic Reid Miles cover and deluxe tip-on jacket.
